Johnny Cree was the grandson of Scottish whisky maker John Crabbie and is celebrated here with Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky from the Bonnington Distillery.
Matured in a combination of barrels: 75% in bourbon barrels, 15% in virgin American oak barrels and 10% in red wine barrels.
The story of Bonnington Distillery began in 2017 on Graham Street in Leith, Edinburgh, just a short walk from the original home of John Crabbie's - one of the oldest Scotch whisky brands and a true pioneer in the industry.
The distillery has a rich history and its name is derived from the original Bonnington House, which was the military headquarters during the Siege of Edinburgh Castle, which is visible from the distillery building.
During the construction of the distillery's foundations, ruins of an old fortification were discovered, which archaeologists took over for excavation and photography, and which became the inspiration for our iconic citadel.
Bonnington Distillery, the first single malt distillery in Leith, Edinburgh for almost 100 years, opened in December 2019 and began production in March 2020 with an estimated capacity of 2,200 barrels per year.
