A rich heritage
The story of Camarena Tequila begins in the highlands around Arandas, Mexico - a town co-founded by Mauricio and Juan Carlos Camarena in 1761.
For over 250 years, a bell perched high above Arandas has rung to summon the townspeople to celebration.
To this day, we pay tribute to the bell with the shape of our bottle and continue the spirit of the city of Arandas with our brand.
Creating the most acclaimed tequila* means starting with the best ingredients.
Our experienced Jimadores wait for our 100% Blue Weber agave to reach maturity, then harvest the selected agaves when they reach peak ripeness.
The rich volcanic soil and high altitude of the Arandas Highlands result in a slow-ripening but incredibly complex and flavorful agave.
Growing agave in this terrain requires skill and patience, but the results are remarkable.
Our patience and pickiness ensure that only the best ingredients make it into Camarena Tequila.
Unique method
When producing Camarena Tequila, we use a patented method that combines traditional and modern techniques.
These include traditional stone ovens and modern agave cooking techniques, a patented yeast strain created especially for us by the National University of Mexico City for fermentation, and copper pot stills and a unique column still for tequila production.
The combination of new and old - modern and traditional - allows us to repeatedly produce the most acclaimed tequila*.
