New product
Ojo de Tigre Mezcal Ojo de Tigre (Eye of the Tiger) is a brand new mezcal produced by the Case Lumbre distillery, which is also the producer of Montelobos mezcal.
This mezcal is smooth and complex, which results from the artisanal and manual production process.
Case Lumbre makes its mezcals with provenance. This is the reason for the quality of its spirits such as Montelobos, Ancho Reyes, Nixta Corn and Abasolo Whiskey.
The co-founder of Ojo de Tigre mezcal Luis Gerardo Méndez is a Mexican movie star. He stars in the Netflix comedy series Club de Cuervos and Murder Mystery, opposite Jennifer Anniston.
He is an advocate of mezcal and introduced this historic drink to the world of new generation spirits.
Two varieties of agave are used in the production of Ojo de Tigre mezcal.
Espadin is grown in Oaxaca, which is the heart of Mexico's mezcal region.
Tobala is grown in the neighboring state of Oaxaca - Puebla.
The cultivation of these two agave cultivars is 100% sustainable and each has unique characteristics. Espadin has herbal notes with citrus and fruity notes that pair well with the umami and earthiness of the Tobala agave. These characteristics blend during the production process to create a product with citrus, lemongrass and green apple notes. Subtle notes of cocoa and cooked agave round out the notes with a smooth and balanced profile.
Ojo de Tigre Reposado
Similarly, Ojo de Tigre Reposado is a product of Tobala and Espadin agaves.
However, unlike Ojo de Tigre Joven, this mezcal is aged in wooden barrels after being roasted, crushed and distilled.
Aging is the cause of mezcal's golden color.
It is also produced in Tlacolula De Matamoros, Oaxaca, by the producer Casa Ausencio León.
This mezcal stands out with citrus, smoky cocoa and fruit notes with a light hint of cooked agave and cucumber.
